Thirsk Birds of Prey Centre at Sion Hill Hall, was set up to ensure that birds of prey would survive to provide the public with a rare opportunity to see and enjoy these beautiful birds.
If you have ever dreamed of seeing eagles soaring above your head, owls sweeping past or ducking and diving as vultures fly by then this is the place for you!
We fly our birds in three amazing flying displays each day, with different birds in each display. In between displays all our beautiful birds are on display to be viewed and giving you chance to learn more about these beautiful raptors!

We have one of the largest collections of flying birds in the North here at the Centre which enables us to fly an amazing variety of birds in each of our displays. We normally fly a selection of owls, vultures, eagles and kites in every display. Ranging from the 16lbs Stellers Sea Eagle to the 2oz African Pygmy Falcon and with a few more unusual birds included as well, keep an eye out for the cheeky kookaburra, naughty caracaras and the graceful White Storks.
You can also expect to get very close to our birds as they swoop over your head whilst our passionate and knowledgeable display team provide light-hearted and informative commentaries.
In-between displays you can view our very impressive collection of birds in their rest areas. You may also see more birds flying in either a training session or on one of our very popular experience days. With block paved paths the access is great, picnics benches available to enjoy snacks from our well-stocked gift shop or bring your own picnic, we also offer hot and cold drinks.
We also run pre-booked Experience Days most days which you will be able to view from the public areas.
We are happy for photos to be taken of our birds including during the flying displays.
